Accessibility for your publications
The EAA (European Accessibility Act) comes into force next June 2025, for which certain products and services that want to access the European Union market will have to meet a series of accessibility requirements. This regulation is mandatory and directly involves the publishing market, specifically digital content, whether websites and/or digital books.
If the EU is one of your potential markets, your EPUBs and PDFs will have to comply with the Accessibility guidelines in order to be sold within it.
This is a big step forward, considering that the W3C and the Daisy Consortium have been promoting best practices in the creation of digital books for over a decade, with even more time for development and discussion before making it normative.
The guidelines are clear and the EU always marks a before and after in legislations of this type, and the rest of the world somewhat homologates them according to their needs. The United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Asian countries such as China have their own guidelines; but in summary, they are similar precepts, because at the end of the day the “Disabilities” that are taken into consideration are almost always the same: vision problems, motor problems, language problems and/or learning disabilities. In general terms, 1 in 4 people in the world has some of these characteristics, and these regulations are forcibly saying that they can no longer be excluded given the enormous growth of digital content.
Mano de libros offers a full range of services so you can have your EPUB and PDF catalog aligned with the EAA.
Whether you need to be within the A, AA, or AAA classifications, you can request a quote to clarify your doubts.

what accessibility guidelines should i follow?
Accessibility guidelines depend on the publication format and the target audience. what does it mean for a publication to be accessible?

Mano de Libros applies these measures to improve the reading experience and expand the reach of publications.
